Breaches of trading standard laws can result in a prosecution. Such prosecutions can begin by an individual making a complaint about the quality of work undertaken by an individual or organisation or the practices of a business in respect of how fireworks are stored. A typical example is the selling of items in a market which are found to be counterfeit. In serious cases, raids on warehouses can take place where police officers accompany Trading Standard officers and uncover goods to a high value which appear to be counterfeit. Typically, a local authority will invite the accused into their offices for an interview and following this process, a summons to attend Court may be issued.
